Flytrap
Electronic Venus Flytrap, Venus Fly Trap, Venus
Fly Catcher, Venus Flycatcher
Fun electronic Venus Flytrap like device.
I got one of these as a prank gift for my mother-in-law. I
set it up and WOW! IT ACTUALLY WORKS!

The fly lands on the mouth and walks toward the
bait. The fly crosses an electronic eye then WAP! The
mouth slams shut. It stays shut for about 15 seconds.
As it opens and gets ready for the next victim it gives out a loud
victory burp. A brush is included to scrape the smashed fly into
the trash.
The burp can be muted, but it funniest when it
is allowed to be itself.
It is child and husband safe. The
Flycatcher has a fondness for insects not humans.
The office will absolutely go nuts with
this! Set it in the break area on top of the fridge or on
a shelf and you will be surprised how much it catches.
This makes a great Christmas gift.
At first they will laugh but then come spring you will get a call
asking where they can get one for THEIR friends!
Frequently asked questions......
- How does Fly Catcher work? Fly
Catcher attracts flies into the jaws using a non toxic bait.
As the fly walks down into the trap two sensors located on the
same side as the lure detect the fly. The jaws then snap shut
killing the fly. After 15 seconds the trap automatically re-opens
ready for the next victim.
- Will the jaws hurt my fingers?
Definitely not. Fly Catcher is designed so that will not even
hurt a toddlers finger. The product has to comply with strict
CE regulations. It has been tested for 3yrs+, but we have recommended
that children under 12 be supervised by an adult.
- How long does the bait last? When
you buy your Fly Catcher you receive a sachet of lure. This
will last up to 4 weeks depending on how often you insert it
into the trap. We recommend you bait the trap at least 3 times
for the first week. Once this has run out you can purchase additional
lures that will last anything from 4-6 weeks.
- What batteries does it take and how long do they last?
The unit uses 3 x AA batteries (Not Supplied).
They normally last anything from 3 months depending on how many
times your trap is activated.
- Can I switch off the burp? Yes
you can. As Fly Catcher also works at night you can switch off
the 'Burp' effect.
- Can I use my own bait? Yes you
can. Effective baits such as jam, honey, red wine and even cat
food (What we've been told) is a good attractant for flies.
- Where is the best place to position my Fly Catcher?
You can put your Fly Catcher anywhere.
Outside or in, it doesn't really matter. Ideally somewhere shady,
not in direct sunlight or bright lights such as spot lights.
- How often should I clean my Fly
Catcher? As often as it needs to
be. Once the trap has accumulated some flies then you will need
to empty the trap.
- Where does the fly go once it has been destroyed?
The fly stays on the opposite side of
the bait box inside the mouth.
- Are they messy or dirty? No, the
swat action is like using a news paper, it really only swats
the fly. If one becomes 'UNLUCKY' then it can sometimes be a
bit squidgy (on the odd occasion).
- Sometimes, my Fly Catcher will activate even when there
is no fly present?. Why is this? Fly Catcher
uses extremely sensitive light/motion sensors, from time to
time they need to self activate to adjust to the light conditions
in the environment. Should the trap keep activating then you
need to relocate it to another part of the room.
- My dog has eaten the bait. Is it harmful?
No, the bait is made up of natural ingredients.
There are no chemicals present in the product. Just drink plenty
of water. ( The dog I meant!)
- Is the Fly Catcher available in different colours?
No, the idea of the colours is to attract
flies to it. The yellow clams attract certain types of bugs.
- Will my Fly Catcher catch spiders?
Your Fly Catcher will catch any bug that
enters the jaws, you just have to attract it there.
- Do I need to water my Fly Catcher?
(DA!) No, you don't. It runs on batteries
and 'No' it will not die.
